Summer time fun

So lot has happened in the last month since I last wrote.

I got my wedding dress!!!!! I bought it in New York City while I was visiting my friend from Maui. Brooke, your the best. I love the dress and will have to post a picture soon.

We bought a new car finally. We bought a Jeep Patriot with 4 wheel drive, so we won't slip in the winter time. It is a champagne color. I love it!

Lastly, my passport came in the mail on Saturday! woo, hoo!!!! So now if Corie gets back to me, I can start planning my trip to England to see her. But I think she fell off the face of the planet because I haven't heard from her in weeks. Earth to Corie are you out there? if so please let me know.

Also on saturday I went to my first Riesling wine festival, wow... I tried and drank a lot of wine in a hour or so time frame. Was feeling a little tipsy by the end of it. Did you know they now make wine slushy? All you have to do is buy some wine, red or white and add water and the mix, then freeze and wala, instant wine slushy. Yummy!! I bought some mixes.

So that is all for now. Talk to you soon.

Blueberries, raspberries and Cherries oh my!

Sunday afternoon was a great day for berry picking, if I didn't say so myself! We (jeff, me and his mom) we to G and S orchards to berry pick. It was out in farm land. They had all sorts of fruits you could imagine; blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, cherries, blackberries, currants, gooseberries, apples and more. It was fruit heaven. We picked blueberries first because that is what I wanted to pick so that I could make a homemade blueberry pie. It was so much fun! There were berries every where you looked and they were so yummy! We picked almost a whole bucket full, plenty to make blueberry pie and freeze some for smoothies later in the summer and winter months.

Next was on to cherry picking. The trees were full of them, luscious juicy black cherries. There were so many of them too and they just melted in your mouth. They are by far the best cherries I have ever tasted, forget the supermarket ones! So I picked about a quart of those and ate about a handful while picking and more on the car ride home. I wanted to pick more but they wouldn't let me. I will just have to go back later and get more. What a wonderful afternoon!
This up coming week I will be on a fruit diet!

Yippee for me!

Bye truck, hello new car!

So one year after buying our new truck and after all the trouble we went through to finally finance the thing, Jeff gets into an accident. The insurance company tells us that the car is a total loss and writes us a check and now we have to get a new car. I happened to like our truck and it drove us cross-country. We have good memories in our truck. No more truck!

So this weekend it looks like we will be buying a new car, any suggestions? We will be down sizing to a smaller vehicle. Wish us luck and I will keep you guys posted.

A little happiness to a crappy week

I officially have applied to get my passport. So only need to wait about 4-6 weeks to see if I am approved and then I can get moving on booking my flight to England to see Corie. Woo hoo!

On a crappy note, Jeff got into a car accident on friday while I was away visiting my parents and our truck in crashed! A teenager was not paying attention while driving and ran into Jeff while he was driving. So now we don't have car and are waiting to hear back from the insurance company to see if they are going to fix it or give us money to buy a new car. Life is sucky right now.

Hopefully things will get better this week to come.

Vacation is here!

So I am officially on vacation as of last Friday. I spent the day making cakes for the forth of july. One cake that i saw in a magazine and was destin to recreate was a watermelon cake. Well making the cake was the easy part, frosting and getting it to sit like a watermelon cake was a whole nother story. I got the color and parts right and the seeds, only it could not sit on the rind end to save the cakes life. The other cake I made was a tie-dye cake with cool whip topping and it was delicious, nice and light and fluffy. Last but the least a raspberry pie with fresh raspberries from the yard. It was my first pie and it came out quite good if you ask me.

So for the weekend we went down to one of the finger lakes where my fiance's family has a cottage. We sat around and went on boat rides, drank alcohol ate many bad for you foods and played in the lake since it was about 100 degrees outside. At the night of the third is when the lake celebrate the forth, everybody lights a flare in front of there cottage and the whole lake is lit up. It looks like the Ring of Fire from the Johnny Cash song, and it burned, burned, burned the ring of fire. LOL. there were so many fireworks in the sky that you couldn't look everywhere at once. It was amazing! I also got to lite some little fire works that I bought along our road trip.

It has been hot as hell here for the past couple of days. Went to the driving range on Monday. It was so hot that my sweaty hands could barely grip the club and I was afraid the everytime I hit the golf ball that the club would go flying along with it. After that I decided that we needed to get a slip in slide so that we could cool off from the heat. Into Walmart we went and out we came with a 16ft slip in slide and some dairy for making home made ice cream, yummy!
The slip and slide was so much fun, my mother inlaw tooks pics so i will have to figure out how to get them on. I forgot how much fun it is to do the slip and slide. The nephew was over too and it was hilarious trying to watch him figure out to run and then slide. He would like crocadile slide/crawl to the end of the slide. Then there were times when I would push him down and that was fun too. He is crazy. After he was done, I just layed there soaking up the sun and cooling off in the water from the slip and slide, how relaxing it was!

Later on Monday I lifeguarded for a friend of a friend who has a pool and was having a party and wanted some extra reassurance, so that was fun and I got paid to watch little children swim with their parents. Money for my vacation to England.

So Tuesday was the big day that I was going to finally get my dental implant for a tooth that has been missing for more then a year now. I figured I should get this fixed before I get a married. So I went in and it took about 5 vials of numbing agent to numb my gums and an extra vial through out to complete numb the area. I am thinking my body is getting used to this stuff and immuned to it already. So after drilling and fitting and tighting and bone graphing, I am half way to getting a new tooth for my missing one. I am in a bit of pain every now and again. The part that hurts the most is where all the needle pricks went and having to keep my mouth open for so long while they streched my lips in all sorts of ways. I can only eat soft foods. My diet today consisted of soup, hard boiled eggs, humus, potato salad and applesauce. Maybe for dessert some chocolate pudding. Yea me, I am on vacation and visiting my parents! Talk about that more next time.

Vacation is a coming!

So it is almost time for a vacation for me. I have the 4th of July weekend off and then the week that follows it to. I am going to the lake for the weekend and then taking the lovely train to visit my mom for her birthday. How exciting! Well i hope it is relaxing. i know the weekend by the lake will be, but visiting your mother is not always as relaxing as it sounds. Hopefully i will can lure her into taking me shopping a bit. I look forward to sleeping late and having a conversation where i don't have to repeat myself 5 times in a row. Then a couple weeks after I come back from Chicago, I am going to visit my Hawaii friend Brooke, who will be visiting her family in new jersey. So New Jersey here I come for a weekend. I am excited! I have never been to Jersey and she is going to take me to new York city too. What an exciting weekend that will be! Shopping, eating, site seeing and having fun with my friend.

Then my next big vacation is to England to visit my friend Corie, if i can ever get in touch with her.

A long time back

So it has been a while, sorry. I have been working long hours the past couple of weeks with McQueen. Who by the way has been very into dinosaurs and animals. We are constantly playing with these creatures and there is always a bad guy who has the name or a bad guy in a disney movie she has watched. She is getting more crazy by the day and saying the funniest things. The other day we were outside playing when the Fed-Ex truck drove by, we waved to the driver and as he passed by she said, "He's cute". What I barely got a good look at him, how does she know he is cute.... She has been eating slower and slower these days. Getting in trouble today for walking around while eating. We were having a picnic.

As for the wedding plans, well we have made a little progress. We are going to have it at a park in the middle of June, next year. We are going to hire a caterer, tents, dj, photographer and etc. I have come to the conclusion that we are going to have to pay for it ourselves because my parents are being lame! Yea that is right Lame! I found another wedding dress I like, decisions decisions. This one is completely different from the other one. This one is strapless and has a corset back, it is a pale rose/mauve color and on the underneath is iridescent rose and picks up different colors in different lighting. It is simple doesn't have a lot of bedding and pulls to one side. The plus side it is a lot cheaper then the other one. So hopefully with in the next couple of weeks I will have a date for you all.

Corie if you are out there I miss you! Hope there is someway to talk to you over the phone and find out what is going on in your life over there! I will be applying for my passport next week. Hope all goes well!

The weather has been beautiful this week, went down to the lake last weekend and it was very relaxing. Read my good book. I also went strawberry picking last week too. What fun time that was! The berries right off the plant are so delicious and yummy! They taste a thousand times better then the ones you buy in the store, plus picking them yourself is so relaxing and fun. You can eat them as you go. These strawberries just melt in your mouth, I can't wait to go again.

Last note for the night. I joined the gym! Yeah me! So far I have taken a yoga class. Was good looking forward to taking Zumba.
More later.

So the engagement party went well. The parents met each other this weekend for the first time and they hit it off. They got a long great. My best friend came in and we had a blast. I took her around and shopped a bit. We tried on wedding dresses and I think I found the one i like. Had a great Mother's Day dinner. I am extremely tired after this long weekend but wanted to post a quick not. Will post more later this week. Miss you all.

May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii

Hi, hi.... So Corie is officially moving to England next week. Lets all give her a round of applause! I am so happy for her.
On another note, spring is here. 80 degrees today and partly cloudy. Went to the Farmer's market today, and guess what I found there..... orange mint and chocolate mint. Maile you were right they do sell that kind of mint. Who would have thought. So i bought one of each and can't wait to make homemade mint tea. With my dehydrator i can have plenty of mint in the winter months because like they say mint multiples. So today was successful if for not anything else then just finding the mint. I also went and got a spa pedicure with the MIL, which was fun and my feet needed it too. i got a pine green nail polish with sparkles in it. it reminds me of the nail polish I had at St. Patrick's Day last year. Corie you know the one I am talking about.

As for wedding stuff, well complicated! Did you know you can't pick a date until you know where you are going to get married...well i know now. So we don't have any idea where we are going to get married. I would like to get married outside near a lake or pond or any kind of water for that matter. I want to do most of the prep work for the wedding myself. I want to do the invitations, the table decor and what ever else I can do. The wedding day goes by so fast, but preparing for it takes a while so I want to enjoy everything i can. By the way I know what kind of desert we will have, Cupcakes from this place called Dolce. She makes fabulous cupcakes with rich buttercream frosting, yummy!
The budget for the wedding is low-cost. As low as possible because my parents are cheap and think$10,000 is too much money, plus they see well only 10 family members from my side will be coming so why do I have to pay all this money. Which is making everything quite stressful. So basically it comes down to them chipping in a little bit and us pitching in the rest. Oh, but wait my mom will buy my wedding dress, if it is on sale. just joking.

Work is going good. Playing at the park is one of my main activities these days. Yesterday we planted flowers and some veggies. Our veggies that we planted on Earth day are starting to come up. McQueen asked me yesterday what they need to grow? I told her water and sun. She said well they need love too! Yes, I said we give them love by watering them and putting them out in the sun. Too cute!

Last but not least... Happy May Day! This is celebrated in the Hawaiian Islands as a festival and people usually give flowers or Leis as a way to show their love to one another. In Hawaii, May Day is also known as Lei Day, and is normally set aside as a day to celebrate island culture in general and native Hawaiian culture in particular. While it was invented by a poet and a local newspaper columnist in the 1920s, it has since been adopted by state and local government as well as by the residents, and has taken on a sense of general spring celebration there. The first Lei Day was proposed in 1927 in Honolulu. Leonard "Red" and Ruth Hawk composed "May Day is Lei Day in Hawai'i," the traditional holiday song. Originally it was a contemporary fox trot, later rearranged as the Hawaiian hula song performed today. I love Lei Day. I remember when i was a little kid and was in school, we always had May Day celebration and had to do a hula dance to a particular song and the whole school got involved and did something memorable for this day. The song I danced to was One paddle Two paddle... something like that. I still can remember part of the dance too. Scary. Ok, so I am sure I bored you to death by now. Talk to you soon.

Happy Belated Earth Day!

Hello, so I have started my new nanny job. The little girl I am working with is such a character. We will call her McQueen since she is so into the Car movie and the characters from it. She is a pistol alright. Talk, talk, talk.... she talks so much it took her almost an hour to eat breakfast the other day. I was like are you kidding me! Mom eventually shovels food into her mouth while she is talking or procrastinating to move the meal along. My take on this, when mom is on bed rest and can't be with us on meals, I am going to set a time limit on meals. You have 20 mins to eat and if you don't finish it then your out of luck. Will see how that goes, keep u updated on that. Oh, mom also believes in finishing everything that is on the plate, including the milk. I on the other hand not so fond of that idea.
The mom of McQueen will be on bed rest for the last 6 months of her pregnancy, so she will be there, but not totally there. So I will be working till the middle of October with this family. Then i am planning on visiting my family in Illinois for a week and then heading to England to visit my friend Corie. By the way visit her blog, it is cute.
So it is Friday night and I am spending it at home, the fiance went to his brothers house to watch a hockey game...what fun, not! I went to Borders to get a fun book called, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. I am excited to start reading it. It is about a family who only ate food produced in a 100 mile radius from where they lived for a whole year. Keep you posted. There is something about buying a new book that is really fun and exciting, it is like buying shoes to some people. Yea I know it is weird. And I made some cookies with the MIL (mother in-law). I am glad i get along with her so well. If only jeff got along well with my MIL. Ok, so i am going to drink my tea and read my book. Talk to you later.

Hello World, I'm back!

Hi everyone,

It has been quite a while since I last posted. A lot has changed since then. I have since moved to upstate New York and living with my future in-laws. Which means i got engaged! yea me! Woop, woop as corie would say. She inspired me to start writing again, so here it is. I changed my background, let me know if it is too much. I am trying to figure out how to keep my writing just in the middle but haven't yet, so if you could help me that would be great. My best friend from Maui got married and i wasn't there to see, boo hoo. I miss her tons. Things are slowly coming together here in Ny. I have a nanny job and it starts new week. I can't wait to start making money again. I need lots of money to pay off bills and to do fun stuff.
I am starting to plan my wedding, have decided so far that we will have cupcakes as dessert and centerpieces for the tables. We are not having a fancy wedding, having a fun low-key wedding. So i will keep you posted when things start moving along more.

So i will keep this nanny blog as a blog about work and life and how the wedding is going. Also to keep in touch with my friend who will be moving to England in the next month, who is going to send me lots of yummy English candy. LOL
tata for now
